Lead Industrial Designer

Lead the physical language of our products, from first sketch to production.

Full-time

The role

Epilogue builds hardware that keeps video game history alive. Our Operator series brings cartridges from the 80s and 90s onto modern computers. There are millions of those cartridges still out there. We have been at this since 2019, we ship worldwide, and we are growing.

We're looking for one designer to continue the physical language of our Operator series and drive the concept for our upcoming products.

People prize our products. They keep them on their desks, photograph them, and put them next to consoles they have owned for thirty years, often since childhood. At this scale, everything is visible: parting lines, draft, sink, and texture. There is nowhere to hide a decision you did not think about.

Your work will end up in major YouTube reviews, international press, magazines, and hundreds of thousands of homes. Together, we could write the epilogue of retro video game history together.

Apply for this role

What you'll do

  • Lead the physical design. Develop the direction, argue for it, and decide what the product looks like and how it feels. You'll work closely with the founder.
  • Take products from sketch to production across form, ergonomics, colors, materials, and finish.
  • Work through DFM directly with our manufacturing partners and mechanical contractor.
  • Review samples and hold the line on the details that matter, from sink marks to whether a T1 sample matches your drawings.
  • Lead the creation of renders and product visuals used on our website and in marketing.
  • Work actively inside a small company. Nobody will hand you a brief and wait quietly.

What matters here

  • At least one consumer product you took from form through tooling.
  • Real opinions about surfaces, radii, finishes, and the places most people do not look.
  • Comfort leading DFM directly with overseas suppliers.
  • 3D rendering skills strong enough that the visuals sell the product.
  • Fluency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
  • Injection molding theory is a strong plus. You won't design molds, but you'll discuss them with vendors.
  • This is not a CAD execution role. If your recent work has mostly been CAD work or engineering someone else's design, we are probably not the right fit.
