The role

Epilogue builds hardware that keeps video game history alive. Our Operator series brings cartridges from the 80s and 90s onto modern computers. There are millions of those cartridges still out there. We have been at this since 2019, we ship worldwide, and we are growing.

We're hiring one electrical engineer. You'll lead the electrical design across our consumer hardware.

We will bring you product requirements before the electrical brief exists. Your job is to decide what is feasible, explain the cost and tradeoffs, and push back when there is a better route.

This is dense, compact consumer electronics. Signal integrity must be closed. The design has to survive production and hit its cost.

What you'll do

  • Work directly with the founder, our mechanical contractor, and our manufacturing partners. There is no EE layer between you and those decisions.
  • Take products through architecture, schematics, component selection, PCB layout, bring-up, and production.
  • Select parts that are actually purchasable at volume. Plan for end-of-life and a second source before either becomes an emergency.
  • Close high-speed and mixed-signal problems with evidence and sound engineering judgement.
  • Bring up and debug the boards you design with real instruments.
  • Handle the unglamorous half of the work: intermittent faults, end-of-life parts, layout revisions, and vendor substitutions that are not actually equivalent.

What matters here

  • Consumer or commercial products you took from schematic through production in volume.
  • Fluency in Altium.
  • Real high-speed experience: controlled impedance, stackup, and termination. Be ready to explain why a layout works.
  • Comfort with mixed-signal design and complex digital systems.
  • Component selection and sourcing judgement, including end-of-life planning and second-sourcing.
  • Bring-up and debug experience on boards you designed, using real instruments.
